Catch them when they drop

A drop registrar is a person who buys up expiring Internet domain names as soon as they expire. The purpose in buying these expired domain names is usually to resell them for profit. Or it could be that you have come up with the best domain name ever and it is already taken. It is certainly disappointing when you put a lot of thought into a domain name and find it is already taken. And of course the next idea you come up with again, is taken. However, you still have a chance at these great domain names.

There are services and software used to detect upcoming domain names that will be expiring. You can even back order these expired domain names, and as soon as they become available, very possibly become yours. You will have to be fast in grabbing up these domains, as you won’t be the only person on the watch list.

Let’s assume you have found a really good domain name that will be expiring soon. You can place a backorder for this name, and if you are the only person interested it will be yours. However, if there is more than one person interested in buying up one of these expired names, it will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

If you are using a service to watch domain names that you are interested in and waiting for them to expire, you will even receive an e-mail letting you know if and when anything has changed.

Every day thousands of domain names expire. You can imagine that there are probably some pretty good ones that you can grab up and make your own. You simply find the ones you want, place a backorder for them, and wait for them to become available. Just reach out and catch.

If you have experience in this process of drop catching, please leave a comment telling us your stories or experiences. I know many of you have certain companies you deal with when doing these transactions. If you have recommendations, let us know.

Thanks
